Aug. 23rd, 2004 12:53 pmFor the first time since he arrived at Milliways, Raph spent the weekend avoiding as many people as possible. He had a lots to think about, and Raph does his best thinking on his own. Mostly because his method of thinking usually requires hitting the occasional inanimate object. Admittedly, there wasn't much in the way of hitting this time around, the skin on his hands was still healing and he wasn't pondering revenge or cooling down after being berated for his behavior. Instead he was considering his future.
Death had told him that his family was still alive. This put one tick mark in the "Go home" category. Of course, there was Penny, a tick mark in the "Stay" category.
He knew deep down that a girl was no reason to keep his entire world in stasis. Of course, there's the other opinion that with his world in stasis there's no reason not to persue the girl. And where did these feelings of pursuit come from anyway? Sure, he'd kissed Fleur. He wanted to show her what she'd done for him in a way she'd understand. She did make him feel safe, after all. He didn't think the kiss would effect him so much, but there was something in the way she touched him that, well he didn't have words to describe it.
Penny had everything he'd ever wanted: Total freedom. She was so carefree about everything, even the idea of what he was. She was honest, but not blunt. Forward, but not overbearing. She was just the personification of nice.
Raph wasn't sure what to do. Thinking, planning wasn't really his strong suit, and as a result of that he chose to boldly go forward in one direction, damning the consequences as he went. He chose to stay, and justified it by telling himself that he wouldn't know how to fix home if he could return, and left it at that.
