out by the lake

*Sometimes a guy just needs some down time. Time to sit alone and defragment his mind. Time to reflect on the changes life has thrown his way.
And most importantly, time to drink from a secret stash of liquor and sharpen one's weapons.
Now is one of those times.
Raph sits on the edge of the Milliways Roof, overlooking the Lake. There's a bottle of Jack Daniels by his side, and a whetstone in his hand.
It's the little things, you know?*

Anakin storms out of the lake door, lightsabre in hand. He begins practicing the most aggressive drills he knows, needing to get the anger out of his system.

*He's not sure what catches his attention first, the glow of the sabre, or the tell tale sound it makes when it slices through the air. Raph watches from the relative safty of the roof. He doesn't know when he's seen Anakin Skywalker this angry before. Then again, he's only ever seen him all glowy at the end of Jedi.

Raph clears his throat, loudly. Last think you want to sneak up on is a pissed off Jedi, or so he assumes*

Anakin stops at the noise. "What?" he barks, a little harsher than he means to.

*Raph goes back to sharpening. Oh the soothing sound of metal against stone*

Just wanted to let you know I was here. Professional courtesy.

*he spits on the whetstone*
People get pissed when they forget I don't make noise.

Anakin relaxes a little. He hadn't meant to yell at Raph. "Sorry. It's been a trying night."

Looks it.
Business or pleasure?

"Huh?" He doesn't quite know what Raph means.

The rough night. Was it on account of work, or somethin' extracurricular?

"Work. I believe the correct term for him was 'bastard.' He had managed to anger Snow by the time I got there, and compounded his mistake by calling me Vader." He spits the name out like it was poison.

*Raph stops what he's doing, and looks up*
why do I keep missin' the fun stuff?

This Bastard got a name?

"I didn't catch it. He was dressed in a costume from head to toe, though. Ugly thing."

Sounds like a job for Andrew, then.
You uh...you gonna be okay?

"Once I calm down, I think so." He executes a particularly vicious attack. "I wish they would remember my name is *Anakin*."

Not that I approve of it, but Anakin just ain't as infamous as...well, you know...

*there's silence*
You want an actual target?

He may growl. Maybe.

"Are you sure I won't hurt you?"

No one's ever sure they won't get hurt. That's half the fun.
Lemme uh...lemme just get somethin' I'll actually have half a chance with though.

*he disappears from the edge of the roof. A moment later he's landing behind Anakin, pair of Sai in his belt, and a Katana in his hand. He holds out the Katana for Anakin to take*

This is for you, cause...there ain't no way I'm goin' up against that thing.
*he gestures towards the lightsabre*

I may be stupid...but I ain't that dumb.

Anakin snickers a little and shuts down the 'sabre. He takes the katana. "All right. Now what?"

Give it a couple of practice swings. The balance on that's gotta be different than the sabre. Can't imagine pressed and folded steel feelin' quite the same as ... well, light.

Then, when you're ready...
*he unsheathes both sai, with a smirk*
show me what you got.

He hefts it and gives it a few expermental swings, putting it through a couple of basic exercises. The balance is different, but not much.

He suddenly advances, with a feint to the head followed by a lunge with a side cut.

*Raph is ready for the attack, or at least he thinks he is. He reflexivly tries to pull his head into his now nonexistant shell. The momentary confusion allows him to see Anakin switch targets at the last second. He catches the katana between the prongs of the sai, and spins the attack away*

Anakin is a bit impressed, since Raph is acting without the Force. He anticipates the spin with the Force, allowing him to keep a grip on the katana. He ripostes with a long diagonal slash upwards, trying to get Raph to block him so he can go for a wrist cut.

*Raph changes the grip on one of the sai, so that it runs along the length of his forearm, in an attempt to block. Sure, this puts his arm at risk, but better his arm than his chest...which he is extra careful about protecting*

Anakin swings into the wrist cut mid-step, putting him and the blade dangerously close to Raph.

*His first instinct it so let the wrist cut go. To give Anakin first blood, and then clobber him over the back of the head with the pommel of the second Sai.

Somehow he feels this might not be the best method...so instead he brings the second sai up and over the blade, allowing him to move his other arm away*
