A wide grin. It doesn't sparkle. It doesn't glow. It doesn't even shine. It's radiant. Diamonds don't have that fire, suns are shamed by the brilliance. It's a smile only for him.

A hand moves to the lapel of his coat, smoothing it down.

She might be teasing him.

She pokes him lightly right below the ribs.

"Oh no you don't. I didn't get this dressed up to go to a cocktail party all by myself."

Sometimes the boy makes her knees weak, makes something in her sigh. This would be one of those times.
