[OOM: The Roof]

*Thinking.
It's the most addictive thing next to breathing.
Once you start, you can't stop.

Raph sits on the roof watching the sunset, sixpack of beer by his side.*

Andrew had kinda been counting on Raph being elsewhere. He figured he could just go get his Walkman and be gone again, no harm, no foul.

Of course, he had also expected his ladder to still be where he left it two days before, and it... wasn't. After he'd stared at the empty space where the ladder should have been for several minutes, Andrew went out in search of a replacement. Thirty minutes later and considerably more sweaty, he returned, leaning the apparatus against the wall with a solid clank.

When he got to the top, Andrew spotted Raph immediately and paused, his hand on the top rung. Maybe there was still time to climb back down without being seen.

Yeah, right.

"I just wanted my CD player," Andrew stated, but didn't move.

"Right," Andrew replied, pushing himself up onto the roof with a sigh. He walked into the tent, collected his Walkman, and exited again. Pausing beside Raph, he scratched at the back of his neck awkwardly.

"You, uh, don't happen to know where my shirt is, do you? The blue one?"

"Oh."

Well, that sucked. He kinda liked it.

Andrew probably should have gone on his way then, but he didn't move. He just stood there, Walkman in hand, looking slightly pained.

Andrew blinked down at the beer. He knew well enough what it meant, and so he paused only a moment before he sat down. He picked a bit at the hem of his jeans.

"Thanks," he said, quietly.

"Not for the beer," Andrew clarified, and cut Raph a sideways glance.

"How do you knock on canvas?" Andrew asked, and was actually serious.

It's not like I knew to expect that.

[identity profile] in-it.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew ground his teeth together in annoyance.

"Sorry," he replied tersely.

I don't want your stupid beer anyway, asshat. BE that way.

[identity profile] in-it.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew sighed as well, and looked down at the beer, finally resolving himself to take one. It couldn't hurt, and it wasn't like he could stay mad at anyone, ever.

"It wasn't your fault," he replied, popping the top and taking a long drink.

[identity profile] in-it.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew winced. Yeah, maybe he had a point there.

"I didn't mean it like that. You can't help what happened. You can't help that you're you and I'm me. That you won the cosmic girlfriend coin toss," Andrew shrugged, and took another drink.

"I really wish I had some meds," he admitted, and looked back to Raph. "You think Bar would give them to me if I asked? Can she do that? Nothing major, maybe just some Valium. I'm not sleeping."

[identity profile] in-it.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Who're you, my dad?" Andrew quipped back quickly, and then paused. "Nevermind. Obviously you're not, because he would give them to me." He sighed. "I just want to get some sleep," he whined. "It's not- It's nothing like before."

Do you hear yourself?

[identity profile] in-it.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew looked over at Raph, his arm draped over his knee, the beer in his hand.

"You run a lot?" He wasn't talking about what Raph was talking about. Maybe Raph could catch that, maybe not. At any rate, it isn't accusatory, just sympathetic.

[identity profile] in-it.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmm," Andrew replied, and looked down at the beer in his hand.

They were really so good at this communicating stuff.

[identity profile] in-it.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"'S not what I meant," Andrew replied, but didn't clarify further.

[identity profile] in-it.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"You know what I mean. Don't make me say it. I wasn't judging. I obviously do the same fucking thing."

[identity profile] in-it.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew did as he was told. He supposed he should be thankful for what he got. It was more than Raph gave most people.

"Just... thanks," he repeated, and then promptly shut his mouth.
