Raph rarely admits defeat. If a challenge too much for him he either hits it a whole lot, or storms off long before anyone gets the chance to ask him to surrender. To Raph, the latter isn't quitting, it's regrouping for a second offensive.
So last night, when the tree took a swipe at him, he swiped right back. The two sides continued to batter each other for over an hour, until finally the tree succeeded in disarming Raph of one of his sais. It was then that he knew it was time to regroup.
Jumping out of striking range, Raph bowed respectfully to the tree, grabbed his clothing and shoes, then headed for the roof of the bar.
The bruises and black eye were nothing. Same could be said for the slight limp he was sporting the next morning.
Raph didn't lose.
He's just regrouping.
